On a warm August night nearing the close of summer, the table was set for what promised to be a fanciful—and delicious—evening. One by one, a diverse set from all walks of life began trickling in: there was a young executive chef of a private dinner society; a custom furniture builder; a special events planner for a local nonprofit; a mixologist; a third generation owner of a new plate lunch stop opening soon in Kaka‘ako.
